Which are the best and which offer the best value back for your items?

I have some PS2 games, DVDs, CDs, a brand new instant digital camera, a boxed Fossil watch and a few computer bits that I would like to get some cash from

any advice??

CEX is usually pretty good in my experience.

  • I heard gamestation were a better choice over CEX for games, would you agree?

If you go to the CEX website, you can "sell" online so know what you will get before leaving the house. CEX has always been better for me but not much in it.

Have never taken cash as the rates are poor compared to credit (circa 25% less). Also, never once been in CEX when they were actually giving cash - always credit. Suspect you need to be there as the doors open if its money you are after.
Who or what was I before you came in to my life
    I am not sure
  • I looked on CEX website and to 'sell' you have to post off your item to be valued? Can I check the value before I take things to the shop then?

If you browse to the item you are looking to sell on the CEX website it will give you their selling price, what they will pay in cash and what they will pay in store credit.

Same rules apply as with buying, you need to shop around. E.g., I bought Guitar Hero 2 (used) for Xbox 360 for £27 at Gamestation whereas it is selling for £45 at Game, so the person who traded in the game might have got a better price elsewhere.

Also CEX in Hull is located opposite Gamestation and I seem to recall seeing a poster saying that Gamestation will beat any trade in price by £1.

This always amazes me, as game and gamestation are owned by the same company, so can never understand why such difference in the prices between the 2 stores, Dave
Take every day as it comes!!
  • All PS2 games seem to be £2 exchange value or less on CEX, is this about right? Would gamestation beat that?

You will be lucky to get much for PS2 games, it is already considered obsolete.

Have you considered listing them on playtrade? I have made quite a bit of cash selling my old Xbox games on there, you just need to search and see which ones are worth listing, then consider undercutting current prices (you only need to do that by 1p), but be mindful of the fact that the price you will get includes postage costs. Listing is free, you are just automatically charged a fee when and if the item sells, this is taken from the amount that you sold the game for before it is credited to your playfund total.

The other option is Amazon Marketplace, but I find that there are fewer buyers on there.

hey i sell stuff to cex because they offer the best prices, but a lotof the time they dont actuallt accept your good for cash because they aint got none, i am heading there tomorrow morning at opening time to try and sell my stuff, if they arent accepting i will have to go to gamstation, but they offer a whole lot less. I am depserate though so will sell at any price
  • why not try tradeyourstuff.co.uk - they seem to be better for games and consoles in terms of the cash amount you get - better than cex most of the time too!

as for the other stuff, use cex to see prices, go to ebay and find out completed listings prices to see if you are better off selling on there - weighing in the hassle of selling on ebay and non paying bidders etc - it may be worth just going ahead with selling to cex

also try music magpie for your dvds and cds..
