Nokia mobile won't call some numbers

My OH has a Nokia 2760. About 6 months old and been working fine until yesterday. Now it won't make calls to some numbers. Not any specific type of number, some mobiles, some landlines, some in the contacts list but also others, cannot see any pattern. Tried my SIM card and it still behaves in the same way.
Is there anything she might have done to the settings that could have caused this. I warn that she is a past master (or mistress?) at finding ways of disabling electronic appliances quite unintentionally. She missed her vocation as a tester for new equipment.
I intend to take it back to the shop but just thought I would ask first in case it was something simple.
