I quoted that figure in my original post. I don't see evidence that local agreements can affect that but didn't read the whole of the Regulations to check. If others have and confirm that it is not possible to have a binding local agreement I do accept it.
Of course, it is an entitlement (and therefore a right) but it is not illegal for less time to occur between days of work as long as employers do not force someone to take less time.0 -

I have often noticed that there is pressure to conveniently "forget" about legal requirements. The pressure doesnt so much seem to come from the employer themselves - but from the staff getting scared that if they insist on their legal rights then they might be first for the "chop". I can sympathise with staff who worry about this - I can only say that my personal experience is that I always insist on the law being abided by as regards my pay/conditions - and I havent had any loss of income yet because of it.
It does help that I dont care if I lose my job - so I am totally confident about pointing out what the law says - as it doesnt matter to me if they dont like it - I know what the law says if I end up "the other side of the door" as well:D and they know I do.
One shouldnt have to be this way - but I've been on the receiving end of some pretty bad treatment by them - hence why I simply dont care any more about what they think when I insist on my legal rights.0
