Hi there.
In late 2004/early 2005 I was declared bankrupt for what I now deem a small amount compare to my new financial status 2009.
I want to take out a mortgage with my partner. Now I'm slightly confused.
I was discharged quickly in June 2005 due and have the certificate. I believe it's on your records for 6 years but on all my files it states nothing about bankruptcy....does anyone else have this.
Obviously I'm a truthful person but I am confused. Do I still have to tell everyone i'm bankrupt until 2011 or am I cleared now?
Also can anyone tell me if they managed to get a mortgage after this and if so with whom?
xx

Hi sjane
if you are asked the question and you likely will be "are you or have you ever been declared bankrupt?" you will have to answer yes. If they don't ask then don't tell. you are not under any obligation to tell them once you are discharged but your credit file may still show some things. Did you do your credit file clean up when you got discharged? There is a sticky on it at the top of the forum.BSC #215/No.1 Jan 09 Club0 -
I tried to but I have lived in so many addresses it's always hard to do a proper check. Fortunatley over the last 3 1/2 yrs i have lived stabily at the same addresses and been on the electorol roll. My credit reports come with three stars, i have been with my new bank for almost a year. I wanted to pay for an angency but no one has any good reviews as i dont have the time to rectify it myself.0

Bankruptcy doesn't always get reported to the credit reference agencies. It's your creditors who report it, if they were all thinking one of the others would it, it may never have been reported. You may be one of the lucky ones who have slipped through the net.
However, if asked the question if you've ever been bankrupt you have to answer honestly. Your details will still remain on the London Gazette BR register, mortgage companies check this too.Incommunicado

Another thing I have noticed with Credit Expert is that the report you see is based on what addresses you put into the system. The report the credit companies see is dependent on what addresses Experian has linked by providers.0
