Keeping check on food shopping

Hello. I did an experiement today when I did my weekly food shopping and thought you might like to know how it turned out so you can try it too.

I bought a book yesterday that is EXCELLENT (about feeding your family healthy food on a tight budget and no effort needed). It has three weeks meal plans in, claiming each is about £25 a week. I took my shopping list to Tesco and got my stuff, but on the way around a lot of stuff was on the 'reduced to clear'. You know what its like - "oh strawberries, we never have those cos of the cost, but they are reduced so go on" "oh that will do us for a meal next week" "oh yeah I didnt think of snacks!" "I can freeze that fort the future" etc etc etc.
I got to the til and separated the stuff that was on my list and the stuff I'd bought on impulse...

List - £52 (it did include nappies and wipes too for £20).
Impluse buys - £48!!!!!!!

Now Im not saying that when you see a good knock down price on food to ignore it. But my point is, Im always faced with 'bits of meals' in the cupboards and freezer, which then I have to go out and get the other bits for to make a whole meal.. then maybe I'll see something cheap, and spend more than I intended then too ... and so the circle goes around and around. I budgets for £50 this shop to last all week. I've spend double that and didnt need to.

Try it next time you do the week shop.

What is the name of the book, as it sounds like a good investment?

I save an absolute fortune when I shop online, it's quite scary when you think about how much you can overspend
