work experience at a school

hey there,

im a 3rd year under-graduate and im wanting to get some work experience within a school. I was wondering if there are any people here who have done it and can offer some advise about the best way in order to get such a thing?

Is it as easy as contacting them with my predicament or is there some particular body I need to go through?

cheers.

how exactly do I get a CRB check? From what I've read it has to be through the school?
  • You may not need a CRB if all contact with children is to be supervised, however, it is good practice if you are going to be there for any length of time. It is essential if you will have any unsupervised contact with kids.

CRBs are generally arranged via the school. See if your Uni has a volunteer co-ordinator as the first option, otherwise, contact schools directly - perhaps your old schools?

Ther is also a 'students into schools' scheme which offers paid placements to students in the hope it will enrich schools (and introduce kids to the idea of university) and encourage graduates to go into teaching - again, your uni should know about this.

hiya, i did work experience in a school, primary school.
but this was arranged via the school i attended at the time.
i was a class room assistant, did reading spelling maths etc with the children was brilliant imo.
re crb, send a letter to the local schools, and include in the letter you are willing to undergo a crb if deemed neccacery.

sorry my spellings off today im over the moon at getting a job lol!
