im reaching the end of my tether here, constantly exhausted as getting no sleep, just getting worse, lo been awake since 3 but didnt take him down til 5.20, havent a clue as to how to get him to sleep all night, would love it if he did, havent exercised in 2 weeks except the daily walks taking kids to school etc so i know im not going to lose anything on monday, how im keeping up with the comps i dont know:rolleyes:
had to take medicine thios morning as i had a splitting headache, although that could be due to stupid mse last night or it could be serious lack of sleep:rolleyes:
oh well bright side is that im up so early all the time, that i get the chance to catch up on comps:D
Hiya
I can sympathise with you completely, we had exactly the same problem with lo but luckily we're over it now.
I can offer you some advice if you would like, you've probably tried it anyway though!

lo is 3, 4 in april, just getting to the point where i need to get him to sleep:rolleyes:he wakes in the evening, during the night then is wide awake from between 3-5am!0

The first thing we did was to cut out the daytime sleep, its very difficult because they're so tired but it makes for a better nights sleep. Also, I don't know whether your lo goes to pre-school/nursery but we made sure that lo got lots of fresh air/exercise in the daytime so that by bedtime she would be knackered! After they have gone to bed basically ignore them (it sounds harsh) but he could be waking knowing that you will be there everytime? Eventually they realise that theres no point waking up cos they're not going to get any attention. Mediced etc can help but lo won't take medicine so we never tried that! Another thing is to try and keep him up late (its very difficult keeping them awake when they don't want to be) to try and alter his body clock for a few nights. At bedtime we just get lo ready for bed, give her a warm beaker of milk and then she goes up, has a story and then thats bedtime over - sometimes she will call out but we don't go back up and after 5 minutes she will go to sleep. During the night now (she's not been well for a bout 3 months) she's not been having good nights but we've only gone into her if we desperately have to otherwise we've left her and she's gone back to sleep. She goes to bed anytime from 7.30pm and wakes now approx 6am (it used to be 4.30am!)
I hope all that makes sense!

this is terrible, no wonder you are pulling your hair out, it sounds like he needs to get into a sleep routine, then hopefully would continue,princess_pixiedust wrote: »lo is 3, 4 in april, just getting to the point where i need to get him to sleep:rolleyes:he wakes in the evening, during the night then is wide awake from between 3-5am!
You properly have been but have you spoken to your doctor? If they know you are at your wits end he may help.
Another idea is have you thought about giving him phenergan (I think that is what it is called) it is for travel sickness but I used it when we came back from america a few days because dd jet lag she slept at the wrong times.
I do sympathise with you, would oh deal with lo one night just to give you a break?

thanks littleholly, will try that:Dyeah he goes to nursery and gets plenty exercise etc each day, he goes up for a nap about 9.45 - 10am, even on days when i dont put him for a nap he still wakes up loads, sometimes on a rare occassion he will sleep, but not often

not keen on using pherergen, ds2 had the saem issue with sleep, he was really bad though, he had that medicine, worked 1 night and that was it, didnt sleep through nght til he started school!
dh has been working non stop for the last few weeks, he is exhasted with work, im exhausted with lo, not often dh deals with lo, only when i plead with him:rotfl:
gonna start tonight and get sorted, hope it works:rolleyes:0 -
I do think they go through phases too, lo would be like that for ages and then stop but then after a few weeks would start again! She's a very light sleeper so we have to be silent upstairs going to bed/toilet etc otherwise she appears at her door! On a positive note, my eldest (nearly 11) never slept properly until she started school but now we can't get her out of bed! It does get better!!!
