Thanks all for a very interesting debate, as usual, on this subject.
However, just to jump back to the original question, can anyone confirm or deny that this age change up to 20 is actually going to happen at some point, or is it merely speculation because the child benefit age is being, or has been raised?Donedoingdebt Lightbulb moment January 2000. Debt at highest approx £102,000. Debt now (October 2009 - absolutely fork all!!!)

It is written into the legislation so the government intends for it to happen. However, the law is being brought in in stages so it's not certain when this particular bit will be enacted. It is also theoretically possible that it will never be brought in, but I don't think that'll happen.Information is not knowledge.

But who hasn't paid keep to their parents towards the cost of living in the past? you would still be buying these things anyway so why do you need a further contribution via the csa. This is about cut off points, whilst I am sure that your child will be continuing education there are some people out there who claim that their children are and they arE not. There has to be a cut off somewhere. 19 in my opinion is too old and 20 is ridiculous. Sometimes it is not about the money or the dependant it is about making the NRP life hell and revenge for a break up and make sure that they cough up 4ever.
i can see what your saying here and do agree that there are too many pwc's that do it for this reason but i guess it all varies on what course(s) they do and if they have a job too etc as to if thay can contribute towards thier own keep
maybe a phasing down of maintainence payments from when the child turns 16 to when they leave education?, like to see the computer system handle that :rolleyes:0 -

I accept that there are some people who can't, or don't, see things in the same way. I apologise if I caused you any upset or discomfort because of your personal circumstances.
I still consider the CSA as the enemy however
:D:D
no upset or discomfort caused, just restoration of faith that there are a decent few in the male population
