Any help would be appreciated

Good Afternoon.

I am currently 6 months pregnant on garden leave pending redundancy from my job in March and would appreciate some help.

I currently owe around 39000 and have been in a DMP with CCCS for the last 12 months paying 385 per month. This has been paid with no problem. Of the 7 creditors only Halifax refused the payment offered and have continued to load interest and charges of 90 pounds per month. However, I recently received a letter from another creditor to say that they were only willing to accept the payments for 12 months and would now like more.

I have explained that I have no income in March except for child benefit ( 125 ) child maintenance ( 213 ) and my remaining tax credits for the tax year of 28 per month. I will receive my redundancy & full maternity payment in March but this will not cover the full amount owed. I had hoped I could continue at the rate of 385 and use my lump sum to support the DMP and living costs for at least 12 months, whilst I seek alterative employment after the birth of the baby.

Originally CCCS suggested bankruptcy which I refused as I worked in financial services and would have lost my job. As this is no longer an issue I am considering this as an option and would appreciate if anyone could confirm the following

Do official receivers always contact your landlord? Privately renting, no arrears or late payments in the 4 years I have resided.

Has anyone experienced any difficulty obtaining car or life insurance since bankruptcy?

    Hi Toni23,

Sounds like you are having a time of it.

The OR will most likely contact your landlord but dont panic as you have been fine all these years and he is getting his rent its highly unlikely they will turf you out.

If he does it may play into your hands as you would be housed anyway as you are pregnant and would fly up the housing list in my experience but like i say i think you will be fine.

I have to admit its not been that bad getting insurance after BR you just have to search about and companies who do not ask or care and they are about so dont worry about that. I have just got quotes for home insurance no problem and obtained quotes no problem.

The thing they will do if you admit you are BR is normally make you pay the lump sum up front but just keep away from those asking question so just do the quote online :D

Hope this helps and well done for taking control.
