3 for 2 refunds

Hello,
Does anyone know anything about refunding 3 for 2 offers? Especially if the discount was not a free item but a discount entered on the receipt?

Should a refund for one of the items be a pro-rata refund or a refund for the full price of the item returned?

Hope this makes sense. I can't find much on the internet about discount refunds.

pro-rata would be fairest. else it's 3 for 2 - you'd need to return 3 items for 2 refunds.

Last year I had to return a toy to boots as it was faulty, it happened to be the free item. Because they had no stock left of the item I was offered gift card for the full value of the item - I got cash in the end as argued my son wanted that toy and would have to purchase it somewhere else (took asking for manager though). Not sure what you mean by discount on the receipt instead of free item though -Guess refund would be whatever it shows on the receipt you have been charged for that item?
