Claiming JSA and current account balance

I am a new claimint of JSA, what is the maximum cash I can have in a bank account before I am disqualified from claiming?

Does borrowed money (secured loan) = own money?
The CSA is unjust, oppressive and discriminates men. If you tell me otherwise then 2 and 2 is 5, and you have a Ph.D in rendering bovine fecal matter.

Are you claiming conribution-based JSA (that is based on your own NI contributions as an employee)? If so, there is no connection with your savings for the first six months of claiming.

I think for a single person under the age of pension is £8000, £1 is deducted for every £250 over from your weekly allowance. For a couple and pensioners it is £16000 and again the £1 deduction per £250 over. I'm not entirely sure if the figures are accurate so don't quote me.

Contribution based JSA: No maximum limit
Income based JSA: £16,000 limit. First £6000 of savings is disregarded. They will deduct £1 from your JSA for every £250 over this disregarded limit.

    Yes

    Hope this helps
  • To add, it's all accounts, not just your current one. They do have the powers to investigate what accounts you have and how much is in them.
