Decided to try out my new Slow cooker today. It has been on since 9am with
diced chicken
Onions
green olives
white wine
mustard
Garlic
To this I am intending to add some frozen veg (peas, mixed peppers & stir fry vegs) I know I shouldn't put them in frozen but when is the best time to add them ??? I haven't put them in yet cos I'm afraid that they will be all soft & mushy ....I was thinking an hour or two before the end of cooking (low)
Does this sound about right ???
also, what about a bechemal type sauce..whens the best time to add this ???
thanks for the help !!! ....want to eat it now

Ive put frozen veg in my slow cooker, normally i do use fresh, but on occasions when i havnt had any fresh available, i do add frozen as if it was fresh, at the begining of cooking and its come out fine. Mind you, peas or thin cut veg i would add about an hour before the end, or they go mushy!!!! Not sure about the sauce, ive never used it in my SC.

If I put in fresh (carrots, swede, turnip, spuds) they normally go in straight away as they can take ages to cook, but frozen (peas, sweetcorn etc) gets added about an hr before needed.

Frozen peas loose their colour if put in at the start so i drop them in for the final hour only. HTHLife's a beach! Take your shoes off and feel the sand between your toes.0
