I was in the a university pension scheme for 18 years untillI left it last april
The main thing I want to know is because I made the pension a deferred pension last april, will it have sufferred thr same losses as someone still in the scheme because of the stock market falls ??
what happens when a pension is deferred ??
Is a deferred pension given a cash value and then yearly rises by the retail price index ?
Thanks

I thought university pensions were based on salary (i.e. a defined benefit final salary scheme) and so are completely unaffected by the stock market falls.0

When you left your pension will have been calculated on your salary when you left and your years of service ( I think USS is an 1/80ths & 3x lump sum scheme)
It will then increase each year in line with RPI, possibly with a cap, although as it's a public sector scheme probably not.0
