I have a small pension fund which was with my previous company which no longer is trading
There is approx 80 k in Sun Life Flexible SunTrust Plan [Fully insured]
Ltd company Retirements Benefit scheme
I havent paid anything into this since 2000
Is it best to leave this with the Sun Life
Or should I move it somewhere else
If so where
What sort of fees would this incurr
I am currently emplyed in my own small limited compwany
My earnings are approx 25 k a year
Ive paid off my mortgage
I do not currently have any other pension schemes running
Is it too late to start a new pension
Thx

Sun Life is still trading under the name AXA Sun Life.Is it best to leave this with the Sun Life Or should I move it somewhere else
Depends on the terms of the scheme and how it stacks up against modern alternatives. If so where

Again, it depends on the terms of the scheme and also the terms of the proposed one.Is it too late to start a new pension
Its never too late to plan for your retirement. £80k isnt much of a pension fund so unless you have other means in retirement, you arent looking at a great amount (unless you are aged under 45, in which case £80k is good).
The problem with your question is that it is too specific. We cant do a pension transfer analysis (TVAS) on it because we dont have the details. Its a bit like saying I have a vehicle, is it still suitable for my needs. yet we dont know the vehicle you have and we dont know your needs. Your vehicle could be a bike or a plane and your needs could be getting 2 children to school. Retirement planning varies with different people and pension products vary. Especially legacy contracts (old ones).
You are right to be asking the questions. A lot of old plans are not very good compared to todays ones and transfer could be the best option. Problem is that a public website isnt going to give you the answer you need.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only.
