Suspended

Help

I was sent home on suspension day after boxing day, had a disciplinary last week which was adjourned, they interviewed me about everything I was suspended for but brought up something new in the disciplinary. they then adjourned so they could investigate more. I really cant afford to lose my job, can anyone? but I think they are trying to find something to get rid of me.

What can I do?

Shaun

  • Not enough info. Depends on what they've accused you of and whether you've actually done it or not no matter to what extent or level, even if only minor.

You will need to go into more details regarding the reason for your suspension and what they have come up with new during the disciplinary stage.

Once you provide more details then others with good knowledge of this area can assist you.

If it was part of the same disciplinary and they brought in new information, I would make sure you bring into your appeal. You dont give a lot of detail, but they cannot discipline you on something that they have not informed you about beforehand in the disciplinary letter, or use evidence which they havent released to you. Unless of course the information has been discovered as a result of the hearing (eg you have provided information of a witness or you have dropped a clanger and admitted to something etc). In a fair hearing, there shouldn't normally be any need to add anything to a disciplinary half way through as full investigations should have taken place beforehand. You will though need to give a bit more info though if you want forum members to help you with your appeal. As my suggestions are based on making a few assumptions.

I made a purchase with my staff discount, I have since learnt that I shouldnt have used my staff discount on the purchase, they are claiming I did it purposefully for personal gain thus coming under gross misconduct.

Upon investigation they found I used a gift card in a further purchase which was given to me by a family member of my partner, it has come to light that this was found by the family member and was part of a refunded transaction, they are claiming that I had in fact taken this card from the branch for use and that I am making it up that it was found by someone and given to me to make a purchase.
