32k in debt, which way do i go?????

hiya,

i got shafted in the last couple of years by my ex, who went mental with credit cards and the banks behind my back. had my post stolen/filtered so i didnt catch wind until it was too late.

as it stands im now £32k in debt. i dont have a house/nor do i have a car.

i sold my house a year ago. it was basically sold with no equity whatsoever to show for it. i registered with CCCS this time last year. and initially all the creditors accepted the £1 a month token gesture. a year later and the same creditors now want more money. as im living on my own, i can just about afford to make a higher token payment, but its still a struggle in its own right. having read the information on IVA's i couldn't not make a £200 monthly payment as i dont have a relatively high wage. would a lower payment be accepted on an IVA or would Bankruptcy be a better option? I will naturally getting back to CCCS in the next 7 days, just wondered if anybody else could shed some light on the best i could go.

Is there a guide anywhere within this site with regards to bankruptcy at all, if so can anybody post it? is it true that in order to declare yourself bankrupt, somebody comes to your house to see `what you've got`?

Thanks for reading, and help given is eternally grateful.

Cheers.

Hi here is a link to the sticky at the top of the forum, the number is in there for National Debtline - you should get advice about whether BR is the best option for you.

no one will come to your house to see what you have got so do not worry about that.

get some advice and come back for a chat. :D

  • As Don79 said no one will come to see your house, you no need to worry. If proceedings on the same are taken against you, you are thinking of making yourself incapable of paying your debts, you should seek your own legal or financial advice from a debt advice centre.
