Hey guys n girls
I have an interview for a Learning Support Assistant Job tommorrow and am really nervous about it I've never had paid work as a LSA before, just voluntary a few years back but I do have a degree in Childhood studies and would really like this job
I guess I was just wondering what I can expect from "stage 1" of the interviews or if you would interview me what would you plan/ ask etc...
I asked the school if I needed to bring anything but they said no, I've prepared some questions to ask about class sizes, adult to child ratios, health & safety & child protection issues and am wearing some smart next trousers & pinstripe shirt & have all my qualifications organised in a folder & I have packed a pencil case & notebook!
I really love working with Children and see this as a potential stepping stone in my career to eventually move onto full time employment.
So I guess really I'm just asking for any advice/ pointers to calm my nerves eek!!
Thanks

Hi there I work on the support staff of a school and I am also a governor at the school. I take part in interviews for staff at my school.
Firstly be warned it will usually be a panel of 4 or 5 people who interview you. Usually the Head , SENCo , Governors .
You will be asked questions ( the same for each candidate) and may be asked to do a short activity with a group of children ( we use our school council to interview candidates!) At the end you will be asked if you have any questions. I would have a couple prepared, but not too many!
Good luck!0 -
Thanks for your reply I dont mind so much about the panel i expected they may make me do an activity which is what im a bit nervous about but at the end of the day all they can do is say they dont want me to come back for the 2nd round of interviews!! fingers crossed though0
