Confused About Sick Pay! Help!!

Hi all
I hope someone can give me some advice here, or direct me to a website or something that can help!

OK, well basically I work in the public sector and have been off sick from work with depression/anxiety/panic attacks for the last two months. I have been on full pay so far, but my place of employment only allows employees to claim full pay for two months, then they go onto half pay.

I am NO WAY near being well enough to even contemplate returning to work, but am worried sick as I have today received a letter from my employers telling me that as of the end of the month, I'll be on half pay. I don't think I can exist on half pay, what with rent, council tax, fuel, bills etc to pay and I'm feeling pressured into returning to work, even though I'm still on medication, still have depression, stress, and am still having panic attacks. My GP says I am not well enough to return to work yet, and has signed me off until mid-February with a view to reviewing my health again then.

Worrying about this is not helping me feel any better either so if anyone has any advice for me, I'd be truly grateful!

Many thanks

I am not sure what advice you want.

If your employers sick scheme is ending on full pay then that is what will happen. There is no alternative financially except go back to work.

If you are not well enough then you need to exist on half pay until you are better.

Probably not the advice you wanted but you knew it really.

Why not post a full statement of affairs (all your incomings and outgoings) on the debt free wannabe board - they might be able to help you cut costs so you can survive on half pay in the short term.

I think there is very little you do, Either go back to work, cope with half pay, or find another job. If the treatment you are taking has no effect is there anything else that you could try.

If possible take comfort in that you have a very generous sick pay scheme. where we work we had 1 months full pay, which was recently deemed wholly excessive, and been reduced to 0 days and then after 5 days SSP
