Cheap wedding caterers needed

Cheap Wedding caterers needed
Hello everyone sorry its been a long time since I have been on here. I am in the midst of sorting out my wedding and as with most people I have a very tight budget. Unfortunately mine and my other halfs family are quite large so after cutting the numbers back we are down to 103 for the main meal!

I need to find a cheap wedding caterer in the Cambridge Area - can anyone recommend anyone?

Many thanks

We're using someone based in Bedfordshire for a BBQ, not sure if that would be too far for you but if you would be willing to hae a BBQ rather than a 3 course meal it's a cheaper option - or even a hog roast if you like that sort of thing, lots of companies do it if you google.

I would suggest a hog roast too, that's what we are having for ours.. still going to have a three course meal, but also use our wedding cake as the dessert.. another way of cutting the costs. :)

Will make a few enquiries about hog roasts - what do I do about vegetarians?

  • We've gone for a barbecue as well, our venue doesn't have a catering kitchen and OH really wanted hot food so this was ideal. Also fits in with it being a relaxed day. I'm veggie and have made sure there's plenty of veggie food, can't wait! Mind you, will probably be too excited/wound up to eat.
Got married 23rd May 2009, many thanks to all on the Weddings and Anniversaries board for their help and support!
  • Did you manage to find a caterer. I had a wonderful lady for mine, i was on a budget too but we had a lovely 3 course meal, cold meat, salad and potatoes to start and cheese cake for desert. When is your wedding? Contact me on email (danielled93@hotmail.com) if you are interested and i will find her details for you. Good luck
  • Heya,

We had an amazing Chinese restaurant cater for us. We hired the town hall, which had it's own kitchen area, and as we'd been to the restaurant loads of times we knew the food would be good. We approched the managed and asked if they had the facilities to cater for our wedding. They did and said they'd provide a buffet for our guests (we had about 150) I think they cooked the majority of food at the restaurant and prepared some food onsite.

It was so much cheaper and nicer than all the catering companies. We found everyone else to serve bland, usual food which wasn't for us.

So it might be worth contacting a few of your fav restaurants to see if they can help.

Forgot to mention, we got married in Peterborough
