Repossession & thanks

Hi you wonderfully helpful and supportive people.

actually whilst I think about it - thank you to everyone who has answered my threads in past couple of months. You really have kept me going, and without doubt made my OH and psychiatrists lives much easier. I really wouldnt be going on without support Ive received here :T

anyway, I digress. Do people viewing or looking into the sale of your house know it is a repossession. I dont want all my neighbours knowing we are moving out because of br & subsequent repo but want my story straight in case anyone asks.

I dont mean to insult anybody over here in NI - but ive found that quite a few of our neighbours, friends and people we meet in general, are quite straight-talking and will even ask strangers questions that I wouldnt dream of asking people I know, let alone those I dont.

We plan to tell friends who dont know that we are renting because this area unsuitable for dogs and me (which it is - house on v.family orientated development - too many kids for me and dogs!!!) but I know I will get asked so many questions!!!

I know someone of you will be saying "tell them to mind own business" but Im finding it very hard to stick up for myself at the mo and feel very vulnerable and fragile.

Any info gladly received.

Thx Lisa

I think when you move out they will put a notice in the window and change the locks. Sorry.

  • Tigerfeet is right, happened to me in November, Notice in the front window, changed all the locks and put some "do not use" tape over the letterbox.
  • Gawd,

Can anyone confirm if this is same in NI? It will sound really stupid but we may have to re-think options as I dont know if I can cope with that (medical probs, leading to severe vulnerability, paranoia blah blah blah). I really hadnt thought about that.

Someone tell me something rational about how I shouldnt be ashamed about being repossessed and going BR....
  • also do they put for sale sign up before you have actually handed in the keys. I suppose if you have already moved out, you shouldnt care!!
  • I had already moved out then sent them the keys, it only took them a couple of days to come and change the locks etc and several weeks before any sale sign was put up.
I saw it all as a fresh start, new house, clean slate and all that, moved to a different area and not looking back.....the futures bright!
  • Thanks Craigos74.

Do you mind me asking if you waited the maximum time before they sent solicitors letters or had you already found somewhere else by then.

Tell me to mind my own if too personal
  • What people think would be the last thing on my mind. Look after yourself and the nosy neighbours will have other stories to gossip over in a very short period of time. You are not the first and will not be the last to get into financial diffs.

Sorry sweetie but I think it will be the same. Just think how much life will improve for you if you do not have all these debts hanging over your head. It will be 100% better for you not to have the constant phonecalls and letters at all times, with the threat of CCJ's and people calling on you.

It will be a new start. Fresh and clean. A new beginning for a new year.

  • Thanks Kevin1973 and I know that is what OH will say when I mention to him.

Im just in bit of an unstable state at the moment and everything sending my head into a spin. i know I shouldnt give a damn and we wont be first or last!!!

    Thanks all for support
