Anyone got any idea which store may have a large cardboard box available,most of the stores I have checked said they are disposed of almost immediately due to storage space

Ebay have sellers who make cardboard boxes any size.I started off with nothing and I've still got most of it left.0 -
Try S&R store room (at the rear of the building), BIG TVs etc... come in big boxes
We've had a few deliveries from them in BIG (coffin size boxes).
Hope this helps0 -
Go round the back of the stores and rummage in their skips.
