First Tax return ??????

Can anybody tell me when i have to return my first tax return? I started working for myself June 2008. Will i have to complete a tax return by the end of this month or would it be next January, as i have only been self employed for 8 months at the end of this month.

First thing, have you informed HMRC and registered for self employment. You should do this within 3 months of becoming self employed or they may fine you.
when filing an SA return, you file by 31 Jan the year after the end of the tax year. So you are asking for the 08/09 tax year, so will have to file by Jan 2010. The deadline this month is for the 07/08 tax year.0 -
Hi Sam, you don't need to submit a return until Jan 2010 if you're self employment commenced in June 2008. Your first return will be for the period June 2008 - April 5th 2009.0
