Cooperative Bank Account

Hello there,
I spoke to my OR the day after my bankruptcy (19th December). I have a cooperative account. He asked if I would give me the Fax number and they would fax to close the account and also take 148£'s from me. In the meantime I have transferred my wages to a friends account. I have just logged on with online banking, had my OR interview yesterday and the account is active with the money still in there. Are they just dragging their heals?

A cashminder. I have hear that the Brighton office are the only ones that close it down.... just not sure why they haven't done it yet OR they have taken the money out yet!0

Jakjo if you look at your other thread this happened to Merry who also has the same OR's office. It seems to be a foible of this particular office and is completly different to every other bloody OR's office in the country.
Yet another thing that isn't bloody consistent. Why the hell don't they all follow the same pattern.
Co-op will open you another cashminder if you have a chat with them.Namaste DeeDee x0 -
Well i would call the OR to ensure you have it right. Normally they OR's dont touch the cashminder account as its 1 of only 2 accounts you can get post BR so ask if you can keep it and you should have been able to keep that cash for living expenses. As they have not done anything about it themsleves may have been that they realised this but forgot to tell you but i would at least ask the question.:cheesy: K2nga :cheesy:

that's my point Namaste (Yoga?)
It is still open and the money they were going to take is still there.
OK, K, I will mail him now and ask.
Thanks for your help guys0 -
If the OR has told you to close it, then you have to close it. I know it's a pain, but we ended up opening three further Cashminders to transfer everything over (single account each, plus joint account) - they ran side by side for about 3 months while we sorted out all the DDs.
And yes, it seems to be a foible of the Brighton OR

That is why I always recommend going BR with zero balance. Can't you tell the OR that money is essential living expenses?

no he said he would and nothing has happened nor the money that he said would take has gone. I would have thought it would have been done by now, that's all

thanks again Merry!0 -
If he has claimed an interest in the account then it is now his and you cannot take out the money - sorry.

Thanks FYP. Just wondered why it hasn't been done already. Just need the OK, so I can open another bank account to put my wages in too. I have emailed the OR to see where it is at.0
