    The older an egg is, the air sac inside it at one end should get bigger, and it should float.

    It may not necessarily be bad, though. The Mark 1 egg shell is a truly miraculous piece of food packaging.

    Break it into a cup, not straight into the food you're preparing, and sniff it. If it's bad, you'll know it. It will smell of hydrogen sulphide, the classic rotten egg stink bomb smell.

    Can somebody remind me of the float or sink rule for eggs please? Are they ok if the sink?? Quick!!! My Yorkies are depending on it

    If they float to the top they're stale, if they sink to the bottom they're fresh. In the middle? Fine for Yorkies I would think.
