I have just paid off my mortgage early and have recieved a quote from my building society for keeping the Deeds on my house which is approximately £25 a year.
Is anyone aware of any bank / building society who will do it cheaper ???

Hi supersaver,
Why do you want to pay someone else to keep your deeds?
The land reg now have computerised records of all registered property so the paper deeds are apparently now only of historical interest and allow easier access if you ever have a dispute over rights of way, who maintains boundry fences etc. You can get a copy of your deeds, I believe, on payment of £2, so it's no big deal if they're lost.
We keep ours at home in a fireproof box with a copy lodged with a close relative, well, can't afford to go shelling out £2 willy nilly, can we?0 -
My solicitor keeps my deeds for me at her office for nothing, as I'm a regular customer! I don't know if all solicitors do this - assuming you will use them for any future transactions.0
