Registering/Self Assessment, Solved for now. Thanks

Just trying to do my tax return and it's got to be done online. No problem. They even sent me a letter, which I tossed in the pile with the other stuff thinking "Ah, tax, chuck that over there to be dealt with when I sit down and do it".

Now, I think I'm a bit stuck.

Just tried to register online and it wants an Acitvation PIN, which they say they sent to me - and which, in any case, would have had to have been activated within 28 days. But I can't find that they've sent me one. I am not at the address where that would have gone to and cannot get mail from there.

What I want to do is: phone them up, tell them about my change of address, get the PIN sent through again to the address where I really am. But I can't find a phone number for Self Assessment for this "discussing a problem" type of enquiry.

Anybody know which I can use?

I've got 0845 9000 444 - trying that now.

Thanks

Spoken to that lot, they gave me another number, where I have to phone and get my address changed. 0845 300 3948

Trying and now in some terminal loop of choices, recorded messages and eventually being cut off.

Right now I am on a recorded message of "all our advsiors are busy, please continue to hold until one becomes available"... I bet after X minutes they deem I've waited long enough and tell me to call back another time and cut me off.

Ah, handy. That's what I would have expected to have found on their website when I was searching earlier.

Little man told me he isn't my tax office, so I have to call them for an address change... and he gave me their number.
On the phone to them now :)
Having to listen to all the options... I hate that.

Finally managed to register for the service. It turns out I was putting in my NI number AND my postcode - and it wanted OR... so putting in both was generating the error message.

But I couldn't find any way to update my address... so having to cross my fingers and hope I get the letter/activation forwarded to me in time.....

    :)

    Thanks

I have similar problem. I registered for SA on January 2, never received their Activation PIN. On January 8 (after 1 week) I requested online the new Activation PIN. Till now did not receive it. Yesterday called to their Helpdesk ,after 30 min waiting I finally got to speak to their agent just to find out that they will not do anything till this Saturtday as "7 days didnt pass till now". All my friends got it in 2-3 days! They were actually rude on the phone. I know its my fault that I left everything till January, but If I would receive Activation PIN soon after registration, everything would been done by now. I am very stressed as time is runnig out...
