Land Of Leather - Warranty

Hi, I was just about to post a question on here when I got a call from Land of Leather (I had emailed them only an hour ago and got a very quick response from them!).
Basically, my query was, who will take over the standard 12 month warranty/guarantee that you would get when normally purchasing goods. We had just put down a deposit on a 3x2 seater last Saturday and were obviously worried!
I was told by LoL that the warranty would be covered by the Administrators and he also went on to say "we're hoping that we'll have a buyer in the next couple of days to take over".....??? Hmmmm.
I asked if we would still be receiving our sofas as we were told delivery would be expected end of February. He said not to worry, the sofas were on order and were in transit to them at the moment. I can expect a call when they are at LoL for delivery to me.
I have to say, after all the complaints I've read about LoL on the net, I have found them very helpful but that said, lets wait until I take delivery of the sofas!!!!

Insteaad of paying cash why not pay by credit card as I gather that offers some sort of insurance agaisnt the company going bust?0
-
Yeah...paid by Visa debit which the Administrators say is protected. Will pay the remainder by credit card just to be safe!0

Could you give me the e-mail address, please?
I ordered a suite in October and although I was told at the time delivery would be some time in January, I have not yet had a delivery date.
I did pay the deposit by credit card though, thank goodness!I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0 -
Just go to the LoL website www.landofleather.co.uk and then click on the contact us link at the bottom left of the page. You'll select which store you want your email to go to and then they'll ring you back. Like I said, they phoned me within an hour of me emailing them which I was impressed with given that I'm sure they're snowed under with queries!0

That's great, thanks. My store isn't answering the phone, so hopefully this will get a response. Thanks again.I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0

Hi freakuno just wanted to say i hope you get your sofa, my sister works for them and is worried sick not knowing wether she still has a job or not..it's nice to hear some have faith too as she gets so many calls asking what's happening when she doesn't know herself.0

Just wanted to check, I ordered a sofa with DFS and didn't put down any deposit, just signed a payment agreement for next year. If they were to go into administration before I get my sofa, will I still have to pay the loan company as they are a seperate company?
Thanks0 -
Sorry, did a search and a different thread answered my question - no basically :rolleyes:0

Judith_W - I would try to do a bit of research on DFS. I wish I had before I went to LoL as there were rumours flying around the internet about them going into administration and then hey-presto - they went! It's strange, I called into LoL only at the end of last week (Thursday) to speak to the Manager. He said that as far as he was concerned, the rumours of administration were just that - rumours - and that the staff would be the last people to know....to which I replied....."yeah the customers are too"!
I wouldn't expect you to pay for something you never received. I would have thought that repayments only kick in when you have received your sofa....if you haven't received a sofa....what are you expected to pay for!?0 -
gabyjane....lets hope it gets sorted! Thankfully, I'm in a secure job and don't need to worry about losing it....I do feel for all the staff at LoL and other places being hit by the recession! When's it all gonna end!0
