Debt free in 11 years...and counting

Options
I had my interview with cccs this morning. wasn't quite the outcome i had expected - i thought i'd be debt free in about 3 years - they estimated 11. I think i just had been under budgeting. but i am going to try to crack it in less that that. If i can afford another 30 per month it will knock about two years off. but the most important thing is I feel postive about money for the first time in years! I didn't feel guilty when i put money on my gas meter this morning, which is rediculas because I never should have felt bad about heating my house!

Part of me feels bad because I owe my credit card compnay and loan company money and they can't have it just yet, but the other part of me, and thats the biggest part of me says, bol****ks... if they didn't charge so much in interest and charges they could have had most of their money back months ago!

Today is the start of the rest of my life... if there is anyone out there who is struggling I would wholey reccommend cccs. they give out some cracking advice, and really put my mind at ease!

    Hi Beccal

really pleased for you and love your poitive attitude. exactly how you should be feeling. I'm with you a 100%. Have just started out with PayPlan and looking to 4 years to get debt free but at least i feel there is light at the end of the very long tunnel.

I know what i have to spend now and dont have to do the juggling act anymore. Lets just hope all the creditors play ball as well.

  • Waht else are you planning to grow your income as that would be a really useful way of kicking lumps out of the debt?

Well this is my first job since leaving uni, and in the west country, so my wages are pretty runnish (£12000 pa). But they will grow, and because of the job I do, they will grow by quite a lot. I just have to get a years experience under my belt, and down here beggars can't be choosers.

I have considered getting a part time job as well as this job, but due to a few health issues I get so tired, and then everything goes pete tong!

i would work from home.. just not sure where to start!

  • One possibility might be becoming an ebay seller

Obviously, you need an idea but start with the stuff you already own and see whether you like it

That's a good idea to give him Thefunkygibbons...I am a regular Ebay seller and I make on average £100+ per week for a few hours doing what I enjoy at the computer. Much more than any part time job would pay! for the hours I do.

Wow Ember, that's quite good money. I sell some of my odds and sodds but don't make much! Do you mind me asking what sort of stuff you sell on e-bay? x
