I (like many others I'm sure) have been caught by a tomato stain on my brand new PVC tablecloth and was quite annoyed to discover that the "Wipe Clean" material can be damaged by such a staple... Moreover, my stain was left overnight...

I was dubious about the "Dettol mould and mildew remover spray" idea mentioned on this thread (I tried the other Dettol Multi-surface Cleaner without any success), but stumbled upon it at Tesco today and saw it has a bleaching agent so thought I'd try anyway... It really works! Took a few applications, then without even rubbing the stain it just disappeared. Thanks for the posters on this thread who mentioned it, I got my tablecloth back to normal : )

Thanks for this tip. I recently threw away a pvc tablecloth with some tomato stains on. Wish I had kept it now!

I find sunlight bleaches tomato stains out of clothes, haven't tried with my PVC tablecloths but maybe hanging it up in the sun might work?

  • I've just tried the mildew remover idea, and it works a treat. Leave it on for 15 mins and the tablecloth is back to perfect condition. Thanks for the tip.

Can't say this will work for a PVC tablecloth but definitely works on vinyl flooring; mix bleach 50:50 with warm water, use a lint free white cloth (I find a piece of old bed sheet works well) soak cloth in mix and smooth onto stain. Cover with a large dish if you have any animals. Leave overnight and next morning the stain is gone.
