Todays the day

Good morning all,

Well this is it, 9.30 this morning I shall be in court with my OH!

Do you sign all your forms before you go (and if so which parts) or do we do it at the court?

If OR gives my OH a nil tax code wont his wages drop therfore altering our soa?

How long is it before you usually here from the OR?

Thats all for now I think, will let you all know how we got on

Hi Ogglydoggly - Good luck! Don't worry about all the other stuff - you should hear from OR within a couple of weeks, wages won't drop with Nil tax code. Can't remember when you sign the forms.

  • Hi
I signed my SOA at the back before I went and I signed my petition when I got there in front of them.

My boss received a notice 4 weeks after my br to give me a nil tax code.

I spoke to the OR on the day and my telephone interview is tomorrow, that will be nearly 6 weeks from the day I went br.

Good luck and try not to panic. This morning your new life will begin and it will be a better one than the old one, my last 4 years have been hell.
  • Thank you for your help. Leaving shortly to get there nice and early. Today is the start of our new life (even though will still be panicking about OR interview)

I thought nil tax code meant my OH could now earn 0 before tax being taken therefore dropping his take home pay? Im sure the OR will explain.

    Bye for now

Nil tax code means that PAYE isn't taken out as normal so you get the whole amount of wages and you send the tax bit off. At this time of year it is unlikely you will get one.

    Hi

Good luck and relax. Today you are just doing the formalities. It took 3 months before we started paying anything to the OR ( OH was told to stop paying tax after about 3 weeks ) We just put the money somewhere safe in case they wanted it (they've not asked so far so its our emergency fund. OH went BR in July and has only just started paying the OR last month. We still have 35 months to go but it gave us a breathing space to move house (to rented) I think it depends on how busy the OR is where you live.

Again good luck, not that you'll need it. It'll soon be over and done with and then you can move on
