How bad is the stigma and the judgemental ******

I like the fact that they say BR is an easy route. Well you dont meet many that have found it easy at all. The stress of debt is massive and so can be the path through bankruptcy. I think i have been blessed with the way mine has gone and that is after loosing my car, my job, our home as we could not afford the rent the place we were in on benefits..........

As some of the TV companies are now showing you about baliffs and the like may they should do a documentery about BR so people can really see and i would hope make better judgements especially when it comes to what take people to debt and through to BR and what the companies you owe money to can be like.

I too have read some of that thread. To be honest after i read doooooonut's response i stopped.

Maybe they should all remember "THERE FOR THE GRACE OF GOD GO I".

Please friends make a mental note of the particulally nasty comments like above. Then when they loose their jobs,are ill,ect ect and they face what we all have faced for many months/years before we actually jumped, and come here for help and support we can give them a little reminder of their views previously;) . As another poster has said "what goes around,comes around".

No doubt they think it will never happen to them,only time will tell. I have the generosity(sp) to hope for their sakes it never does.Dx

To me only small minded fools who have no idea what individual circumstances are and dont bother to find out, can make such silly judgements as they have.

Hi everyone,

Just catching up on stuff.....
You will always get people who knock especially if they have not fully understood the realities or implications of going bankrupt, which seems to be the case with some of the posters. Lack of knowledge is a very dangerous thing.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion, I actually thought that a lot of the posters on the thread saw that there were two sides to every coin and that BR is a safety net for those of us caught up in a debt nightmare that no amount of "sealed pot challenge" or "live on £4K a year" will solve.
I don't feel stigmatised or that I have anything to be ashamed of.
If anyone should feel ashamed it is the lenders, especially sub prime, who are charging ludicrous amounts of interest to people who are already facing difficulties..... a recipe for disaster, and the banks with their constant levying of ridiculous charges.
BR is available to anyone who meets the criteria - not for a select few. After taking advice and exhausting other ways to pay off debts sometimes it is the only option left.

I just think we're made of much better stuff. What we do on this forum is changing lives for the better, supporting people and making feel better about very tough times, it doesn't make us weak or cowards to go BR it probably takes a lot more strength of character and bravery to face the truth and make things better for us (including society collectively) later, while what they are doing over there is supporting an underclass system where less fortunate (by whatever means through circumstance or whatever) should be kept in the gutter. But what they don't realise is they would turn on each other, risk their family to maintain such a life and opinion, also having such high rigid opinions puts them at risk when/if things go wrong for them.

I am a centre right person but there are several shades of grey, it's not just black and white.

So I think we leave them to it. We just need to be aware of other not so common opinions (keep enemies close and all that)

I think all the newbies need to be aware that these ****** exist, but to find strength from within to know what and why we are here and the courage to face it head on makes us much better people.

well said credit punch ! imust add to that if it wasn't for this forum i won't be here where i am now if it that does make sense .. there are many people who give excellent advise and support when you really need it and deserve every recognition for that .

I can understand the fightin' talk, but honestly, if they do end up coming here for advice, as opposed to coming here to stir up trouble, the reality is that we will end up helping them.
