trying to clean some gold coloured taps with the white vinegar trick and had a peek to see  the taps are now black!!!!!!!!!
so.. have I ruined them .. or .. does this mean the process is working??
what is also worrying me is that the plug and chain (on the same sink) has come up great (been soaking the same time as taps) so I am con~fuddled! any help gratefully received! thanks in advance xx

No rinse them quick! The vinegar treatment isn't suitable for gold taps! Sounds like the plug and chain aren't made of the same material. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!
