Hi, I bought some stair gates yesterday, got them home and don't fit.
I want to return them and get some smaller ones, I have to stay in for a delivery, Will OH be able to exchange them even though I paid on a debit card, I know they wouldn't allow it for refund, will it be the same for an exchange?

I've done something similar in the past, exchanging an item OH had purchased, and didn't have a problem.
Only proviso is that if new item is cheaper, difference may need to be refunded in vouchers. Make sure you check stock (& reserve) new items before making the journey though!

if need be a full refund will be given in store (provided its not exempt from the 16 day money back guarantee/ unsaleable etc), provided he can take proof of purchase with him.
the refund will be put onto a gift card, which is valid for 3 years from the date of issueknow thyselfNid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...0 -

Are you sure?
Not last time I did it about a year ago. I paid for the items on my debit card (joint account). Sent husband in to get a refund with receipt as I am shy person and would have been a jelly on the floor. Husband came rushing out and said I have to go in as it was on my debit card
So I still had to go in and deal with the problem even though I did not want to.

Thanks for that. Silly question has that always been the case or something new.
So if my husband has said no I was not about they would have done that for him.

its always been the policy as far as i am aware

perhaps whoever served him just didnt make a very good choice of explaining the options to him? (in my experience, not all members of staff are forthcoming about refunding money spent on a card in gift vouchers, because some people just slink away and accept it, meaning one less refund against that persons name).

EDITED TO ADD
personally, i dont unstand some peoples problem with this. from a business point of view, a refund in vouchers makes more sense because the customer is compelled to come back and use them. im all for giving the customer the choice myself. if they have the card, the money goes back onto that, if not its their choice to take a refund in vouchers there and then, or come back in their own time with the card.
any argos related problems though, feel free to shout and i'll see if i can helpknow thyselfNid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...0 -
They will refund onto the card and re sell you the new product you require so you will need to be there to sign the slips/enter pin numbers (unless they dont notice a man is doing it)0

But as it was just a refund and not a re-sell there was no need for me to be there.
