  • I've been looking at this Roger Black one for a while - does anyone know the Peak HP and the continuous HP ratings of the motor, as this is probably the most important part of the treadmill?

I've been looking at this Roger Black one for a while - does anyone know the Peak HP and the continuous HP ratings of the motor, as this is probably the most important part of the treadmill?

I contacted Argos to ask them the following:

    1. What is the break horse power of the motor?

    2. Is the motor measurement continuous duty or peak duty ?

    3. What are the dimensions when folded ?

    4. Is the treadbelt 1ply or 2ply?

    5. Does the belt come with come with cushioning and impact absorbtion?

They couldn't answer any of my questions

So I emailed Roger Blacks company to see if they knew ... I got a reply back this morning telling me to email here 'support@rogerblackfitness.co.uk' and they'd be able to help me. The email also said:

Roger is certainly very happy with the 'Gold Treadmill' and has one at home himself.

Take that with a pinch of salt !!

Anyway I decided to order one anyway, and Argos state that I can send it back within 16 days if I don't want it ... I'm sure all the information I need will be in the instruction manual. Argos even pick it up for free if I want to send it back.

STOP PRESS ... just had a reply from Roger Black Fitness

The answers to my questions are:

    1. the break horse power of the motor is 1.75hp
    2. continuous
    3. dimensions when folded are (h) 175cm and (w) 77cm
    4. the treadbelt is 2 ply
    5. the cushioning for the treadmill is the standard treadmill running deck suspension

Also found some good advice at http://www.apennyearned.co.uk/treadmills.html

I also asked them some additional questions:
    • Is the frame steel or another material ?
    • Is the frame bolted or welded?
    • How long is the manufacturers guarantee?
    • What’s the top speed of it ? Is it more suitable for running or walking or both ?
    and the answers were:
    • Steel
    • The frame is welded and the assembly is bolted
    • You have 12 months with us but this can be extended with argos
    • Top speed is 10mph and is fine for both running and walking
Argos state top speed is 14 Kmh which is 8.6 mph, but they claim its 10mph

The replies are coming from an address that ends @reebokfitness.co.uk

Having a look at their website, you'll see a selection of their own brand ones which start at £799

  • Wow! Thanks for the help - and such a quick response!

(If Roger's got one at home then it must be good!!)
