I agree, around here there is a big difference between 2003 and 2004 prices. When I bought my house a few months back I paid somewhere inbetween the two. I wish I offered less now but that's hidnsight for you.0 -
It may depend why they are moving. A desperate seller may accept a low price if they need to clear the mortgage quickly or have seen a house they want at a good price.
Assuming they are not that bothered about moving, I can't see them accepting £148k, but they might accept £175k plus. Start low - you can always up your offer. If the housing market continues to be volatile, you need to be sure that this is a house you will be happy in for a few years and don't pay more than it is worth.0
