hi. for years now since i stupidly opened a virus email i have had between 5 and 10 phishing or virus emails a day, which i delete from my spam folder. its driving me absolutely mental, and im thinking about changing my email address but i have a few questions (i have already spoken to yahoo about this problem but they cant help and my email address comes up in google searches!!)

1) i need the email account to be compatible with yahoo messenger. is it only yahoo i can use?
2) is there an easy way or will i have to email everyone and notify change of email, i cant even remember who has my email!!, such as mailing lists or important sites (for instance sites that i buy things off and have accounts with)
3) if im registered on all the forums with my current email ill have to change all that too!
4)if i keep getting virus emails to my old account but dont send messages, will it be closed down eventually or will i keep having to check 2 accounts?


please help, any advice would be appreciated as its getting to the urgent stage now, cheers too many people know my current email address.

If you look in your spam folder you're going to find spam.
I never bother looking in the spam folder folder - end of problem.
Any Yahoo address is likely to get spam.

i get normal emails going into my spam folder as well and viruses going in to my inbox.
i can deal with that but i want to know if theres an easy way of changing your email address when you cant remember who has your pervious one to notify them and is yahoo my only option if i want to run yahoo messenger (with msn you can use a yahoo email)

I find it easier to have 3 email addresses.
1 : I give to family and friends.
2 : I use for shopping.
3 : I use when registering on sites for games or general interest/mucking about on tinternet.

The 3rd one is the email address that picks up most spam. After a couple of months , I delete it.
I normally open up another address with a similar name.
I've got about 5 throwaway email addresses, all similar name but with a number after it...6,7,8 etc. After a month or two, I delete the address and use another.
