CSA Maintenence....

This is a question to all those who read this thread that have had their maintenence assessed through the CSA via the 'Old System'- ie Cases assessed before April 2003?

Has anybody in this situation been transfered over to the 'New System' yet?

I am currently in dispute with the CSA over how long it has taken to change the Old to New, esp in light of the fact that anyone claiming IS who is on the New Systen is £520 per year better off than those still on the Old.

I am really interested to know whether there is ANYONE out there who has been transfered in the last three years?

Many Thanks

If you are in dispute about the hold up transferring over to CS2,I'm afraid you are banging your head against a brick wall.

I have transferred over onto CS2,but I'm a private case and I presume you are in receipt of IS?

All you can really do is involve your MP and put in a complaint.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Just interested but how is someone on the new system £520/year better off? I thought if you were on benefits on either system that the majority of the maintenance paid by the non resident parent went to the Secretary of State with only a little passing on to the children.

  • No worries about being the bearer of bad news, I have found out over the last couple of months how hard getting ANY kind of answer from the CSA can be.

My MP is involved and I have put in a complaint after I came off IS in December and found out that not only was I not able to claim the Maintenence Bonus as I was not returning to work for more than 16hrs per week, but that because of the CSA internal systems I have been treated unfairly compared to others in my finiancial position to the amount of £1300.

I was actually told by an employee of the CSA to make an official complaint and she said she is not surprised that many others do not do the same!

The only answer I ever get regarding the change over is that they are transfering the cases as soon as possible, but I have letters dating back to 2003 that say the same!

It seems that maybe this is uncovering another aspect of the CS2 change-over... that the private cases are being dealt with first and the IS cases (ie the ones that save the Government £10 per week!) are being left till last.

    Many thanks

Under the old rules (the ones that I was under), I did not recieve a penny of what my ex-husband paid, it was all passed to the State. Under CS2 £10 a week is given to the parent with care.

  • I am the 2nd wife of a nrp paying £325 a month, upped our mortage trying to bring down the payments (on old system) so they are still taking 30% of my husbands income. I have started an onslaught of letters to my MP as my arguement is that if I split from my husband I would only receive around 15% of his income. We feel like pretending to split to reduce the amount. I do not grudge maintenance payments to PWC but the way in which it is calculated under this old system. CSA sensitive case officers have advised us to letter MP.
  • Thanks lucybob for your reply from the other side of the argument.

I have been told that the reason behind the slowness to transfer the payments to CS2 is because of Internal systems. I feel sure there must be some kind of rule or regulation that states that the consumer should not be held responsible for internal systems and that it is down to the dept/company to sort this out ASAP (not 3 years!). Afterall, if we paid for an airline flight and it was delayed by 3 years we would get compensation??

This is just off the top of my head but it seems to make sense.

I am also a second wife of a nrp on the old system.

When my husband queried about going on to the new system middle of last year. He was told only the PWC could request that.

But as you are a PWC can't see why you have not been moved.

I got the impression that everyone was going to be moving on the new system when they had re-assesment every 2 years unless there has been a change in cirucmstances.

    Which to me seems obvious.

Personally I don't think that people on the old system will ever be moved over to the new system. It is to much trouble and hassle.

  • There certainly seems to be a trend growing that there is stalling going on with regards to CSA transfers.
I was told that I cannot request a transfer, and in the (nearly) four years I have been claiming through the CSA have never been told about a re-assessment even though I have asked for one as my ex got subsidy for seeing the children as he had to travel. This was at the beginning when he saw them regularly and his access has become less and less (last year he only saw them for 15 days in the whole year) and yet he is having money taken off his payments for this!

Anyone know how you can get hold of any statistics as regard to the CSA?
