Just when will I be taxed?

in Cutting tax
I have been working three part-time jobs for the last six months, in total I earn approximately £220 a week (£11,400 a year). However I am yet to be taxed at all.
It's irritating to know that the money in my bank account is not all mine. I want to start paying tax now instead of having to pay out a large sum of money when they inevitably send me a letter asking for me to pay.
My last two payslips for two of my jobs indicate that I am on tax-codes 603L/1 and 609L. I'm not sure what these mean though.
Is it my responsibility to inform the Tax Office or is that my employers job? Is it normal for this to happen? Am I missing anything?
Thank you.

You are underpaying tax because you have two lots of tax free allowances. Its your reposnsibility to inform HMRC of this and I suggest you act now. Ring the tax office for your main employer and tell them the names off all three employers and how much you earn at each. They will allocate your tax free allowances appropriately, but be prepared for a small underpayment of tax for this year.£705,000 raised by client groups in the past 18 mths :beer:0

You've been given new tax codes for each job, which is lame because its completely screws things up!
If you still have the latest job and have your P45s from other jobs, ask payroll for a P46 with that and send it off with details and they will chaneg your tax code.0 -
According to my employers P46 forms were sent off for each job.0

I phoned my tax office and they want me to provide them with a host of details that I don't know, such as my 'PAYE code',whatever that is, it's not on any of my documents, that's for sure.
I should add that one of my employers has yet to send me a single pay-slip. Is it not a requirement for them to do so?
On a lighter note, at least I won't have trouble sleeping ever again, I'll just read through the HM Revenue & Customs website again. Yawn, what a bore.0 -
The "PAYE code" is probably the PAYE reference number of your employers. Each employer has a specific number allocated to them and this identifies them with HMRC. Ask each employer what theirs is and let HMRC know so that they can update your record and sort out your tax codes. Sometimes the PAYE ref is on the payslip but not always.
Employers are required to to give you a payslip if they are correctly operating PAYE.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
