Could be some network/hardware failure. I'm guessing as the sites look 99.99% the same, they are probably on the same platform/hardware so would all go down if something stopped working?

The way the sites are hosted, it would be a case of one down, all down, in the event of a glitch or maintenance downtime. I expect that they will be back up and running later on, don't start sounding the panic alarms just yet.

I bet some IT geeky person/s if having a bit of a sweat on at the moment.

"DSGi is cut off from the digital world today, with its two main websites falling off the net.
Dixons.co.uk is down at the time of writing, along with PCworld.co.uk.
A spokesman for DSGi told us: "We had some routine maintenance last night which has caused problems - it looks like a few more hours work to get it fixed."
Missing even a day's trading online will hurt the firm - it has been one of its few areas of recent growth, up nine per cent in the last half year."

  • Zavvi and Woolworths both stopped trading online before calling in the administrators.

Hopefully this is not a sign and is just routine maintenance that has caused problems. Did they let Railtrack do their maintenance?:rotfl:
