Hardest....sticking to a tight budget. Although it is rewarding not to be overdrawn at month end!
Easiest......cancellng Sky after 10 years (still feels good)!!!! and changing phone to 1899."One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -
Nothing.
In the last few years before the CCCS arranged my DMP I had cut back so much that I wasn't spending money on anything at all, other than mortgage/rent, food and utilities (and debt repayments). I actually have more money now than before partly because now I have a budget for things that I don't always need, so I can redirect that income, but most importantly I'm not spending nearly a grand per month on interest.0 -
Although my debts are gone I still live to a budget and haven't missed takeaways at all. Then last wednesday I walked out of B&Q and the smell of chips came wafting across the road in my direction and I went weak at the knee's and started salivating at the thought of fried chicken leg and chips. I never carry cash so I couldn't indulge, but I certainly would have if I could.
We all have an odd weak moment I guess.

The easiest thing I found to give up was a car. It's amazing how soon you get used to not having one and now I've paid back my debts I still havn't got another one.
I didnt really give up anything which was difficult to give up.2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040 -
I have found giving up a second car the hardest, not because it effects me, I just get the bus to work and get on with it, but it has had an effect on the kids, they cant have friends back after school which means they dont get invited to friends houses and they cant go to after school clubs which they would like to because they have to come home by the school bus. I feel guilty for that.Just when I'm about to make ends meet, somebody moves the ends0

The hardest thing for me to give up is Sky+. I never miss the programmes I like and when I spend an evening with the wife on the sofa there is always something we like waiting to be watched.
I can't give up my broadband though, my daughter is at school and needs t'internet ( is that at all convincing ?) she also lives on MSN with her "M8s" and my lack of financial control isn't her fault so the broadband stays.
The easiest thing to give up was the Sky repair plan, £8-00 a month to get a repair in an acceptable time really grated so I cancelled that with a smile.
I have replaced nights out with free tickets to TV and radio recordings and have had some really great times for petrol money to and from. There are 10 types of people in this world.

My husband has not quite had his light bulb moment yet, he agrees with the principle but told me today "whats the point of veg shopping in the market you wont save anything, its as cheap in tesco and you get points and discount( I work there).
So we have a challenge for tomorrow.
I buy my veg in town ,he keeps a record and may the best man win !!!!
