10p knickers at Primark

  • They're 10p as they're odd ones from multipacks; you know what people are like; they decimate the multipacks, and rather than lose out completely, the staff chuck the remaining pairs in the 10p bin, and write 10p in red pen on the label inside the knickers.

To the poster who went in today but could not find them...they're near the downward escalators/homeware section/tills/knicker tables. It's a large white basket literally full when I went in yesterday. It is an ongoing thing as I bought some a while back.

Primark underwear is surprisingly durable. I have had mine for a while now and nothing's wrong with it.

Primark have said that they are ensuring they have ethical working conditions and I am pretty sure that if you look at almost any shop, including designer labels they working conditions are pretty similar.

this is completely not true. a news item which was on the bbc yesterday will back this up primark are very well known for the exploitation of workers. Also take a look at such clothes companies as fat face. very clear ethical aims with proof to backup these claims.

i think we need to wise up to what we are buying!

Fashion chain Primark has launched an investigation into allegations one of its suppliers has breached employment and immigration laws.

The news Item is posted above and PRIMARK did not employ those people, a contractor/supplier did and Primark are investigating. Sorry you did not understand the story, big pricey names also have this problem with suppliers misleading them, M & S had the same thing a few years ago with thier flower suppliers.

IF somethings that cheap, it must be the case that materials and poor and labour is cheap. Simple as.

Primark know full well, but choose to turn a blind eye.

    !!!!!! is all that about?
  • I feel consumers' hands are tied on this matter. The options are:
    1. Keep buying and workers get low pay with poor working conditions.
    2. Boycott and workers, many are homeless or orphan children, no longer have jobs and do not get paid at all.

    Which would you choose?

    3. Do one of the above but try and make people aware and keep pressuring stores etc. to make the stores and their suppliers put better conditions and pay in place for their workers.

  • I agree adouglasmhor, pressure and public awareness is helping to prevent this happening. But there is a lag time where large companies suspend payment while the matter is investigated, their reputation is obviously important and they want to be seen to be being proactive and remedy the situation. It is during this time that contractors pass on the pay suspension to workers. There's no redundancy pay in these countries and minimum wage is only recently or only just starting to be a feature.
