Does anyone have any advice on how best to do this. I have been discharged from bankrupcy for since April 2005 and have only had a few bounced Direct Debits, none since September 2005.
I just cant seen to open a normal current account or find any info on rebuilding my credit rating.
Thx in advance

I feel for you my friend I am in the same boat. Was discharged April 05. I have a CO Op Cashminder account which is good but I am really annoyed with them as they won't let me open a savings account. So I have a nationwide flex account with E Savings and I am in the process of opening the Halifax Direct ISA from reading these forums:)
I have much to my amazement just got a contract mobile phone on T Mobile. I also use Kays Lifestyle. I have been for a while, I have kept everything paid up and paid over the minimum, I have learned my lesson and I get a great buzz out of saving. But I would love a decent current account! With Switch. However I have just got one of those pre payment mastercards, Cash Plus, which Does me for what places won't accept Visa Electron.

So does this Kay Lifestyle update your credit file and is it possible to open an account in my circumstances? The nationwide account seems possible but again, i dont want to apply and get turned down as this i have been told also has negative effects on credit rating.0

The best way is to ge ta credit card (which may have an extortianate apr), make sure you try to get one that does cashback on purchases, if possible, do your shopping on it then set it up a debit to pay off the full amount every month.
You will need to be diciplined with this, but the rating will go up if you demonstrate over a decent period you can keep up payments (prob at least between 6-12 months)0 -
Having been turned down for Capital Ones - Guarenteed credit card are there any others you can suggest?0
