Question about returning an item at Game.

My mother bought a Nintendo DS charger from Game for my sister's Christmas, she was told it would work on the original DS but it's actually for the DS Lite and won't work for my sister's model. She bought it on the 11th of December.
My question is, if she takes it back, will Game still offer her a refund or an exchange?
Thanks.

I'm sure if she explains what happened they will at least offer her an exchange.
Looking online at their returns policy it states this:Items bought in a GAME Store
Purchases made in store can be returned to any of Stores under the following conditions:- Any product (excluding gift vouchers/gift cards) may be returned for refund or exchange within 28 days of the purchase date, providing that the seal remains unbroken.
- Please note that hardware must contain every component part (cables, memory sticks etc.) before it can be accepted as a return.
- Faulty software where the seal has been broken may be returned up to 3 months of the purchase date.
- Faulty hardware may be returned for a like-for-like exchange up to 12 months of the purchase date.
- A valid proof of purchase is required for any return.
- This does not affect your statutory rights.
So I'm sure there won't be any problem.DMP Mutual Support Thread Member No 19017/05/08 - Total on DMP: £10025.7007/05/14 - Total on DMP: £1666.20 DFD: July 2017!!Baby Tomos born 5th June 2009 - 6lb 5oz :jWeight Loss Target - to lose 60.8lb by NYE 2015 - 37.6lb TO GO0 -
They'll only take it back if your mum has her receipt - my nephew ended up eith 2 of the same DS game for Christmas & he tried to return the unwanted one to Game(as it was sealed with a Game security sticker on it so it had obviously been bought from them) but as he did not have the receipt they would not exchange it for him.0

It does say proof of purchase is required in the terms as above.DMP Mutual Support Thread Member No 19017/05/08 - Total on DMP: £10025.7007/05/14 - Total on DMP: £1666.20 DFD: July 2017!!Baby Tomos born 5th June 2009 - 6lb 5oz :jWeight Loss Target - to lose 60.8lb by NYE 2015 - 37.6lb TO GO0

Thanks, she's got her reciept but the purchase was over 28 days ago
So I'm guessing it might depend on the mood of the SA?

Try anyway - my BF had to return an unopened game to Game (cos his mum told him to get a PS3 game for nephew, but nephew doesn't have a PS3...), he still had the receipt but it was over 28 days ago, and they refunded anyway. If they won't give you a cash refund, they'll usually give you vouchers or let you exchange.
Just remember that if you bought it on credit/ debit card, you'll need to bring the original card with you or they won't do it.0
