i live in a transition town and this is the first i have heard of it.
I agree, its not something Chesterfield has promoted loudly is it?
I managed to hear about it from a freecycle friend last year, who told me to take our access apples to a 'food swap' ...then finding out that it was organised by a 'transition group'
Ive also heard they organised the 'potato festival' in the market place, with displays of different kinds of....well...potatos, and demonstartions of...potato cooking, and craft (potato prints im guessing:rotfl: ) lovely idea, but still made me giggle when I read about it!0 -
I'm a member of a transition town in Merseyside & would love to hear any suggestions of how we should be publicising our group.
One of the most important aspects the tt movement recognises is that it needs to be really inclusive and that we need people from all different walks of life to get involved... but then for the most part, we end up relying on word of mouth for publicity. As the groups become more successful & grow, the local press seems to get more interested in giving column inches to the various endeavours, but other than getting some friendly shops to display a few flyers, we don't have access to much advertising of events etc.
If you have any ideas of how you think you could have heard about your local TT group, but didn't, please let me know. We'd welcome your ideas...0
