My phonecall was less than 40 minutes, maybe 20, but then he did miss a section out, which is why I had to go through it again in the job centre.

Fair enough if you were relaxing, what I mean is you said you were going to leave it another few months? Why leave it if you're actively searching now?

Also the 13 week thing is just a time period during which you can be more exclusive as to what you apply for, after which you need to broaden your search. I'm not sure on the effects regarding payments after this date but should continue to be the same. Also the 13 week is a maximum, they set mine at 6 weeks then I think after this I have to consider a wider range of jobs..

JSA shouldnt really make a difference, but the best way to ask is to go into a bank and ask the staff when would be best. You will need to give bank details however, for payment of JSA.

Yes you will need to go in every 2 weeks to go through job searching activity etc, they give you a log to fill in with what you've applied for etc.

Even though, if the advisor didn't miss anything out, a trip to the job centre is still needed I assume to finish things off.

I finished uni in May, and started looking for work in September... I know a long relaxing period after uni, lol. So basically, I could have applied for JSA during May/June time then...?

I am willing to find any job related to my uni course or not, as I do have work experience in them. Therefore, I am very flexible.

As for the bank account details, do they collect that over the phone or during the interview in the job centre? If they collect it over the phone, I could give my current savings bank details to them for the time being, then call them when the new account is opened, so they could change it to the new account. If the bank details are collected during the interiew in the job centre, I guess I would need to apply for the new account before the start of the interivew a few days before.

I thought so that I need to go in every 2 weeks to see an advisor. I will be applying for jobs through them, recruitment agencies (in town and online), newspapers, and directly to companies concerned. I assume they would want proof that I am finding a job (for example, acceptance/rejection letters), and some employers won't send those out... What should I do to prove that I am finding a job?

Thanks for helping me out so far piggeh. You have been great.
  • Hello,

I'm also in the process of applying for JSA. I was wondering, to anyone who has recently applied, do they ask for proof in the form of bank statements? My worry is that I have auctioned off a lot of items on ebay recently which has provided me with a steady income for 2 months and I'm a bit concerned they will use this against me.

    Thanks x

OP, I would stop messing about and just get on with it. It's only a form. You are a graduate, you should be capable of reading instructions and filling in a form.

Goldilockz, they may well, but if you have a print of your trader account showing it is domestic bits and pieces and not a shop as such you will be ok.

You really should have started your own thread, on the form state it as an income, take emmzi's advice.

if they are selling odds and sods, it is hardly income. It is trading that would be a different story
