That's a great insight, thanks for the info :j
  • DO NOT ENROLL WITH BTSC!!!!!!! I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH!!! I am just at the beginning of a legal battle with them as my brother signed up a few months ago. YOU WILL NOT BE A QUALIFIED PLUMBER AT THE END OF THEIR COURSE, they have lied and taken over £12,000 in course and registration fees from people. I can't even start to explain my brother's story it would be an essay but visit ukplumbersforums.co.uk for more info. I'll keep in touch though so if anyone else is on this course please do join us by complaining. Trading standards are already investigating them, watchdog too, and a local MP has escalated the issue to cabinet minister level so things are moving, but as usual the more the merrier!
  • Just a word of warning :

My husband was very interested to take up an electrician course. Had to be 'interviewed' by phone by the course advisor so that they could make sure that he qualified for it. It was a distance learning course and he had to go to Birmingham (we are in London) for a few residential days of practical studies. (expenses to be paid out of our pocket). Of course, the usual spiel of getting the qualifications in record time, fast tracked, guaranteed job, qualified City & Guilds etc.

After the interview, he was 'deemed' as suitable. A letter came saying that a place has been reserved for him but we have to make fees payment by 14 days or the place would have been released to next on the waiting list.

Found out in all that the course would cost some £5000! When we objected to the price, they suggested taking out a student loan with them to cover the fees.

A few more digging and research, we found that hubby could have enrolled in a local college for around £1000 and if he was on the JSA, it would have been free! No need to schlep miles out and pay for overnight accommodation at all.

From personal experience - STAY AWAY FROM ADVENT.

There course is overpriced, they push for a sale, mis-sell then don't take no for a answer.

Check your local colleges etc, the whole advent course can be done for 1/6 of the price through there!!!
