You can only claim back VAT if you are registered for VAT.
Are you self-employed or employed by the NHS? If employed, then you can't register for VAT.Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac0 -
No I am employed by the NHS, but I have heard of some of my mates claiming back on computers etc, used for work purposes. I was wondering how they were doing it. They were all employed by the NHS in whole time posts.Inside I am THINKING.0

It's not via VAT, AFAIK. There are things you can claim for in certain professions, eg teachers are expected to work from home (marking etc), so I believe they can get something on their tax code to reflect this.
I don't know what's 'standard' for medics. A quick look at your professionals' website or a call to them or HMRC might be useful for you.Signature removed for peace of mind0
