I see so much that I like and have decide on THE dress 3 times.I thought that if I gave a little description of myself and rough body shape some of you who perhaps have finished planning your own wedding would have time to help me with ideas for my dress.
I am only 5ft 8 but will wear a heel for the wedding so not exactly tall,my measurments will go down to a 12 before the wedding but are always a perfect (or not so perfect )hourglass shape, currently 46 36 46.I am big boned even when skinny so broad shoulders and hips and big bust.
I have figured out I think that either a classic princess cut skirt shape with chapel train or fishtail style suits me best.Top part needs to be corset or square neck and I need 3/4 or long sleeves, possible bell sleeves, maybe a bolero or coat instead but I dont like bare arms and it will be November so chilly.
Venue is a scottish castle decorated in an eclectic mix of antiques and tartan or rich red upholstery.I need the dress not only to look right on me but suit the venue too.
Heres the really tricky part.My chosen wedding colour is purple, rich royal purple.I have been searching for a purple dress but so far have found a tartan one with purple inderskirt I like,a rich red shot velvet one and a white one with brocade bodice.
I am struggling to decide on something which suits and also find it difficult to get something a little bit different without it looking like a fancy dress costume.
Any links appreciated.
My wow dress, love the colour and her style, actually I loved her whole wedding, is the purple dress of dita von teese but my budget needs to be tiny.
Hubby 2b has chosen outfit fron dark angel,a black brocade longline jacket and he is having a custom high collared waistcoat made in a purple brocade with either silver or black.Just to give you an idea of what I will be standing next to as it will influence my dress choice too.

Hi SLTBS
Great name - that's me too lol
As an hourglass shape, I would say that you need a dress that cinches in at the waist, to show off that lovely trim waist, and then a full skirt to hide the hips (this is what I'm doing!). Personally, I wouldn't choose a fishtail as I find that these accentuate the bum and hips, and the ones I tried on did not suit my shape at all.
I shall have a hunt for some pics online, but I know that I have seen some beautiful full ivory dresses with tartan sashes, or pleats, and I think that this would be a wonderful way t bring in the purple tartan theme and acknowledge the scottish history without looking too fancy dress. If that makes sense lol.
I shall have a hunt online and come back and post some links.
It sounds a fantatstic wedding! x0 -
What about this? https://www.glamourousgowns.co.uk/sess/utn;jsessionid=154969e2b37d075/shopdata/show.php?dress=284
It's available in 50 colours so I'm sure they will do it in a colour you want.
I'm 5ft 8 and a curvy size 12 and I reckon it would look good
They have lots with little jackets etc on that website.
They are a lot cheaper too, they have a dress on there that is £275 that I saw in my local bridal shop for £425 only yesterday!0 -
Ok, so I have had a look. Not sure what your budget is. What do you think of this:

There definitely seems to be a lack of purple wedding dresses!!!
I did also come across this site which has purple wedding accessories!:

I followed a link on another wedding forum to offbeat brides and there found a link to a gorgeous alternative designer.I have found my fairy goth mother. This is definately where I will get my outfits from. Now I just have to decide which ones as I absolutely love just about everything, she does loads in rich purples too.

Hubby2b is complaining I am spending too much time looking for my dress online but look how productive it has been today:D"Reaching out to touch the stars dont forget the flowers at your feet".0 -

Thats the tartan one I picked ,that was THE dress a couple of months ago, love the purple underskirt showing, now I think that will clash with the dining chairs at the castle as they are a different tartan"Reaching out to touch the stars dont forget the flowers at your feet".0
