What's the deal?
The time of the £20 multi-region DVD player is here. This one's a silver Cyberhome CH-DVD400 multi region capable DVD Player (meaning you'll have to make it multi-region yourself). As it's £19.99 delivery is free.
Specifications:
Slow-motion playback
4 x Zoom
14 different sound modes
Can play MP3, JPEG and MPEG files
Dolby Digital Decoder
JPEG Pictures
Video CD / CD / CD-R / CD-RW / MP3 / WMA / DVD+ / -R/RW
RGB,S-Video
SCART output
There are more technical specifications on the Amazon site here.
What is multi-region?
It simply means you can play disks from anywhere in the world, not just European disks. Meaning you can buy US disks which may be cheaper and unavailable here.
How do I make it multi-region?
There are two ways to do it. Both are explained on the Amazon site here.
Some people that have reviewed this model though have said the multi-regioning info is difficult to understand. So if you're having problems follow these instructions, which reviewers have said does the trick:
Power on, NO DISC IN - let the power up cycle finish
Press MENU (PBC) button
Press 1
Press 9 A box will appear with the Region Number in it... change this to 0 and press enter.

Found a lovely little Panasonic DVD player in "Powerhouse" in Coventry at the weekend for £17.99 in their "Blue Cross Sale". Wasn't really looking for one, but couldn't resist one for the bedroom at that price!!Be an amateur! Professionals built the Titanic, amateurs built the Ark!!

Personally I've bought about 6 cheap multi-region players from Amazon (mostly on behalf of friends & family) and found them to be excellent value!
My living room has an expensive one (£34.99) and my bedroom has a cheapo (£24.99 later reduced to £19.99) one :T0 -
My £120 dvd player stopped playing dvd's and I bought the Cyberhome CH-DVD400 from amazon. I have it for 2 weeks and am very pleased with the purchase. It is a smart small size and even the remote is thin and small. It also has more features than my old more expensive dvd player.
Excellent piece of kit at an excellent price! :T0 -
Is the cheapest around?Use your judgement, and above all, be honest with yourself.

I may be wrong but can't you make all players multi-region now?Use your judgement, and above all, be honest with yourself.

Some players come multi-region as standard (or did anyway) my first one said region 2 on the back but played everything!
Probably all can be made multi-region but some need tinkering about inside to do it while others just need a few keys on the remote pressed like the one above.0
