Going abroad - thinking of renting out my flat

Hello,
I current live in a flat for which I currently have £100K plus mortgage. I have been offered a 2 year assigment abroad with my job. I am thinking of renting it out whilst I am away.
Can anyone please advise me if I have to change my mortgage to another lender or can I just rent it out under my current mortgage?

Tell your lender your work is taking you abroad and you will be renting the property out. Most will be fine about it, though they may increase your mortgage rate by as much as 1%.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards.
